Frontotemporal Dementia, also known as frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) or Pick's disease, affects 50,000 to 60,000 Americans. Unlike other dementias, FTD primarily impacts behavior and personality rather than memory. The exact cause is not fully understood but involves degeneration of the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.
FTD is considered a "young" person's disease, with the average diagnosis age being 60. Early diagnosis and management can improve quality of life.
